Collaborative Marketing

Kapiti Now - Your Marketing Collaboration

Collaborative Marketing, in a nutshell, is the process of sharing resources to increase leads, brand, and influence. Not surprisingly, the Internet has made the option of collaborative marketing easier than ever.

All the concept takes is a common purpose. When companies come together with a common audience, or goal, or a common mission or interest, they can band together in any number of ways to create an influence and a presence that is greater than the sum of its parts. Internet exposure for the joint endeavor can create leverage that leads to higher Google GOOG +0.06% rankings and stronger SEO for all of the companies involved. Businesses don’t even need a common audience to benefit from collaborative marketing, though it is particularly beneficial when they do.

The Kapiti Now project is a collaboration dedicated to helping extend the branding and marketng of Kapiti businesses that join as well as providing an essential marketing platform for Community groups on the Kapiti Coast.

What is Collaboration Marketing?

Collaboration Marketing is the process of aligning your company’s interests, resources, and marketing muscle with other like-minded companies to accomplish much more than you might be able to do on your own.

The concept has existed for a long time in advertising. You can open any airline magazine to find collective ads that promote Top Steakhouses, Top Seafood Restaurants, or even Top Plastic Surgeons.

Basically, the concept allows companies to unite their advertising budgets to cut the cost of a traditional ad by 10x or more (basically, by the number of participants.) The concept isn’t just about just saving money. It also provides collective strength to each participating company’s brand and credibility.

Pulling the top names together dramatically increases the brand recognition, customer value, and customer retention for each. Every time a customer flies to a location where one of the top providers operates, they have a ready-made referral to a good meal…or a good surgical experience?

In addition to advertising and online marketplaces, companies are increasingly ready to collaborate on joint webinars and events such as virtual trade shows as well.

Kapiti's marketing collaboration extends beyond branding and marketing within the Kapiti region, recently we launched Wellington Today to extend our project to reach out around the greater Wellington region, this will help add more funds into the projects but also extend our marketing across that region.  To help build the community we will be creating a directory of Clubs and Schools, initially targeting secondary schools offering them FREE branding, marketing and promotion services, working with them to build the network thus creating a much bigger marketplace for those businesses that take part.  The costs for marketing and branding per business are significantly lower making it more sustainable for small to medium businesses that find it difficult to market regularly due to financial restraints.

We are staring using the web and social media but over time with the support of the collaboration we will grow our awareness and marketing channels and perhaps even develop sub marketing mastermind groups who need to drive into markets beyond the greater Wellington region.

How could your own business be benefitting more fully from collaborative marketing approaches? Or how could you create a collaborative program that doesn’t exist yet to suit your own unique market’s needs? I’d like to challenge you to consider the thought that your own next great opportunity may lie in a concept or an idea that nobody’s thought about yet. Why not you?
