Raptor Swimmer Steps up into Division 1

The 2018 Division 2 meet was held in Rotorua with the Raumati Raptors sending a team of 13 swimmers to compete against swimmers from 90 clubs from around New Zealand. The developing Raptors’ team  finished with 6 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals and finished in 7th place on points out of all teams.

Isabella Tunnicliffe made an enormous step up with her swimming and qualified for the 2018 National Age Groups champs  (Division one) to be held later this month. Isabella won four golds and was selected to swim in the Wellington representative relay team which won the bronze.

Thomas Lee also had a great meet with strong swims to win 2 golds in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

 

The Raptor's boys relay team with Taine Hartnett, Thomas Lee, Todd Bishop and Damien Doyle showed themselves to be strong force winning a silver and two bronze in the freestyle relays.

Div 2 coach Simon Reeve was thrilled with the results from the Raptors and is excited to see their next steps in national swimming.

Individual medals: Isabella Tunnicliffe: gold - 100 back, 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free. Bronze Wgtn relay Thomas Lee: Gold - 100 breast, 200 breast Todd Bishop: Silver - 100 IM, 50 free Bronze -  50 breast, 100 breast Damien Doyle: bronze  - 1500 free.
